I love my Picky Bitches!

Thank God for the Picky Bitches in my writers life!
Just received critiques from my writers group for the first two chapters of Space Kids Book 2 …       Josh vs. Lord Terra.
My hands trembled with excitement as I read their notes and suggestions.
Is it a winner?

My writing buddies delivered positive feedback on how to strengthen the premise, the plot and the characters.

  • Now which opinions do I follow?
  • Which do I reject?

Amazingly, they all said similar things.
With confidence, I incorporated the majority of their ideas into my story.

One brave Critiquer stood out from the rest.
He suggested I’d have to rethink and rewrite certain sections of my story.
Do I really want to do that?
Yes! My gut feeling said he was right.
I’ve trusted him before with his logic and Reader / Writer sense. And I would do again!

We need Picky Bitches to critically read and comment on our work.
We’re too close to our writing to see any flaws.
Without that honest feedback, we can’t grow as writers.

I suggest all serious writers join a writers group that critiques.
After you build trust, then start exchanging stories for critiquing.
Always make it clear as to the type of Critique you want with a Brief.
Remember … you don’t have to accept anyone’s critique.
Their advice must resonate within you.

Novels aren’t written overnight.
Like creating a Sci-Fi series on television, they take time to mature and develop.
That’s what I’m doing with Josh vs. Lord Terra.
I’m listening to feedback, considering my options and developing my very best second draft.

I’m hoping the Space Kids series will generate interest in my other manuscripts too.
Especially my memoir, ME AND HER: a Memoir of Madness, which has secured interest from readers and  supporters.

A dream come true would be two book deals … for my Space Kids series AND my baby, ME AND HER.

I’m counting on an upcoming media interview to generate interest in my books.
The program producers contacted me this week, requesting my patience.
They’ll get back to me soon with specifics.

Dreams can come true … I’m wishing on a star… a glorious supernova.

What’s wrong with a girl wishing?… Am I aiming too high?

Josh and the It
